Attack

Karim Benzema – 8

There is no doubt that this is not Karim’s best season at Real Madrid, but things are starting to look up for the Frenchman. Despite being a number 9, the striker played more as a 10 getting involved in the build-up play along with quick one-touch passing.

Benz did well to test the goalkeeper a few time over the course of the match showing that he is getting into his stride. Karim’s greatest contribution was his involvement in Lucas Vazquez’s goal in the second-half.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 10

Giving out a 10 seems like a bold move but what else do you give a goal-scoring machine like Cristiano Ronaldo? The Portuguese star netted four goals and bagged an assist on the night.

Sunday marked the eighth time that Ronaldo has scored four or more goals in a single game over the course of his career. CR7 is often lauded for being a selfish “cherry picker”, but his heat map showed something else completely. Cristiano selflessly set up Lucas Vazquez for a goal and moved all over the pitch to help out on and off the ball.

Substitutes

Gareth Bale – 7.5

Having played just 20 minutes, the Welshman was eager to make the most of that time and did just that as he picked up a goal. He looked full of energy and healthy as he raced around the pitch, all great signs.

Luka Modric – 7.5

Luka replaced his fellow Croat and picked up right where he left off. As usual, Modric looked calm and composed on the ball and it was a darting through ball that led to Bale’s goal.

Isco – 6

Having come on in the 81st minute, there was little time for Isco to make an impact. He got a handful of touches, but let’s just hope we get to see more of Magia after the international break.
