Ronaldo has been in red-hot form thus far in 2018

The first half of this season tested the faith of even the most die-hard Ronaldo loyalists. The writing seemed to be on the wall – the end is near, it’s finally happening.

But, Ronaldo being Ronaldo, found a way to bounce back, yet again.

Take a moment to process this – in November 2017, Ronaldo wasn’t even in the top 10 goal-scorers in Europe. And right now, he has 37 goals in all competitions, the most in Europe. He hasn’t just bounced back, he is swatting aside everyone who was ahead of him.

He has 23 goals from 14 games in 2018, which includes 7 braces. He is now 3rd on the list of all time international goalscorers as well. It may be safe to say that it is almost certain he will be at least second on this list when he hangs his boots.

He continues to defy his age and his critics.

And it is this mental strength that sets him apart from every other contender to the crown, including Lionel Messi.
