The Cristiano Ronaldo factor

Real Madrid’s significant upturn in form since the turn of the year has coincided with the Portuguese ace finding his attacking boots again- he’s struck an incredible 21 times this calendar year alone. His intervention would once again have massive bearings in both legs of this tantalizing affair.

To add to the cause, the Old Lady is one of Ronaldo’s favourite punching bags, having blitzed the scoring sheet in every game between the teams – 7 goals in 5 appearances overall, including the brace in the Cardiff showpiece en route to the Duodecima.

Ronaldo loves the Champions League, stepping up his game especially against the mightier sides of the contest. He has  enjoyed a particularly fine spell in front of goal this season, scoring in every game. So with 12 strikes, he isn’t only the leading marksman, but also an instrumental reason behind the Blancos still oxygenating hopes of a third consecutive title.

All eyes will be on the metronomic no.7 again, who’ll look to accrue a couple of more goals; something that Madrid desperately hope.
