Real Madrid: Why Cristiano Ronaldo had Juventus fans applaud him
Wow. Those are the only three letters that can be really used to describe the performance Tuesday by Real Madrid. In a must win game, this team continues to shine through. The man of the night that both sides can agree on is none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo Had the Performance of a Lifetime
Let’s not kid ourselves, this match up was heavily in favor of the current champions, Real Madrid. Juventus is a side that Los Blancos has knocked out three times in the last four years, including the 4-1 win to achieve La Duodecima. The key factor to Juventus’ downfall being Cristiano Ronaldo.
Coming into this match, Ronaldo was already on fire in both Champion’s League and La Liga scoring numerous goals in the past few weeks. He has really proved himself unstoppable since turning around his “finished” season.
The game against Juventus kicks off with all guns blazing. It took Ronaldo just under three minutes to bag his first goal of the night with a sensational pass from Isco.
What makes this even more astounding is that this is his quickest goal of his Champion’s League career out of his mind blowing 118 goals.
The real silencer for Juventus came in the 64th minute. Juventus was fighting hard to clean up their defensive mistakes, and we see that with Buffon’s save against Lucas Vazquez. Just when we thought that attack was over, Carvajal put in a perfect ball for Ronaldo who fired the shot into the net from a bicycle kick. We’ve all seen him do it before, but this one was just special for Madrid fans everywhere.
Even Zidane was singing his praises with his reactions during the match and in the press conference. Such a goal comes once in a lifetime for some players, but CR7 isn’t just any player. This goal further cements his dominance and excellence he’s exuded for so many years.
At this point, all the the Juventus fans could do was for clap him.

You couldn’t be mad or think about what you could’ve done to stop him from scoring. All you could do is give him the respect that he’s rightfully earned.
The highlights of this game are just the tip of the iceberg. With this game, he became the first player to score in 10 consecutive UCL matches and unfortunately, became the highest scorer against the great Gigi Buffon.
To top it all off, Ronaldo has now equaled our very own legend, Iker Casillas, for the most wins in the competition.
Looking through his accomplishments makes you take a step back and wonder when he acquired all these records and titles.
He continues to prove time and time again that he is not done and we will hopefully continue to see his dominance for many years to come.
With this performance, all Juventus could do was applaud and stare in awe at the man that towers before him.
