Real Madrid thrash Juventus 3-0: Defining moments from the match
66th Minute: Dybala sees red
Dybala had been booked towards the end of the first half for simulation. But, he was a bit unfortunate to get himself in a position to get a second yellow. While technically it was the right decision, it did not seem intentional. However, Dybala still had to make that long walk back to his dressing room.
His is also a curious case. There is no dearth of potential, but the same has not been converted to consistently influential performances on big European nights. Which may be a reason why he has been out of favor with his Argentina coach and has not secured a spot for himself in the World Cup yet. A player with such potential and hype around him needs to step up on such occasions.

72nd Minute: Marcelo taps in Madrid’s third, effectively sealing the tie
Marcelo was his usual free-flowing self in this match. At times he played so far up the pitch, it almost looked like a home game for Los Blancos.
He tapped in the third goal after jumping over Buffon and guiding the ball in right at the touchline.
The assist from Ronaldo was special too, with some incisive one-two passing. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back and led to the mass exodus of the home fans.
Conclusion
Real Madrid was superior to Juventus in pretty much every aspect of the game and deserved the win.
In fact, they could have won 5-0. Ronaldo missed three half-chances in the last seven minutes of the match. None of them were sitters, mind you, but, given the galactic standards he has set for himself, he will be kicking himself for not converting those.
Next: Three takeaways from Real Madrid’s 3-0 win against Juventus
While the return leg is yet to be played, it may just be too big a mountain to climb for a side which is known more for it’s defensive strength than taking the game to the opposition. The two-time defending champions are staking their claim for a third consecutive title, and the claim is becoming stronger with each passing match.
