Overview

Real Madrid was looking woeful for most of the season, but Zidane has the squad back in order and firing on all cylinders. This past month, Real Madrid played five fixtures in total, with players joining their national squads during the international break. Four of the five matches were played in La Liga with the fifth being the return leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16.

La Liga

Heading into the month of March, Real sat in third place with 51 points, 10 points behind second-place Atletico Madrid. Los Blancos won all four league fixtures last month, not leaving any points behind.

  • Four matches played – four won
  • Scored 16 goals
  • Conceded six goals
  • One clean sheet

Champions League

Real traveled to the Parc des Princes in early March as they faced off against Paris Saint-Germain in the second-leg of the Round of 16. Despite a 3-1 lead heading into the return leg, many were nervous about Madrid’s possibility of progression.

In typical Real Madrid fashion, Zidane and company put in an incredible performance against the star-studded Parisians. The match ended in a 2-1 scoreline with Madrid moving into the quarterfinals.

Current Standing

The Whites continue to sit in third place but have closed the gap with city rivals Atletico from 10 points to just four. While the title looks far out of reach, Real will continue to push on and can salvage their domestic season with a second-place finish. Los Blancos will be able to close the gap to just one point as they face off against Atletico at home on Sunday.
