How did Real Madrid fare in March?
Best and Worst Performance
Best Performance
Without a doubt, Madrid’s best performance was in the Champions League against Paris Saint-German. With two first team players unable to feature in the match due to injuries, Zidane looked to others to step in and they did so in superb fashion.
The manager utilized a 4-4-2 formation against the Parisians and it worked wonders as Real stunted the attack of their opponents. Mateo Kovacic and Casemiro played a double-pivot in the midfield as they worked in tandem to stifle Paris’ attack.

When one went up the pitch to support the attacking play, the other stayed back to ward off any possibility of a counter-attack.
Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio led the charge on the wings, disrupting the defense of PSG time after time. It was a link-up between the two that led to the goal by Cristiano Ronaldo. Another assist in the books for Lucas Vazquez has him leading the team in the category with 13.
Worst Performance
While Madrid did go for a perfect month in March their scrappiest performance was in La Liga against Eibar. Real struggled for most of the match to maintain useful possession and waited very late to grab the win. For much of the match, the side looked disjointed and lethargic in their movement through the pitch.
Real’s blushes were saved by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who helped scored a goal in the 84th minute. Apart from Ronaldo, Modric was Madrid’s best player on the night after coming back from his injury that he had suffered in early February.
From this point on, Real Madrid cleaned up their errors in the back with the defense tightening up in their duties.
