Carlos Henrique Casemiro, better known as Casemiro, has garnered attention from some big clubs in European football. The Brazilian joined Real Madrid’s Castilla team in the summer of 2013, from Sao Paulo. Between 2013 and 2015, he had short spells of time with Madrid’s first team.

After he had bounced around like a ping-pong ball for a couple of years, Real finally had Casemiro stay put.

The 26-year-old was a direct replacement for Xabi Alonso, who left Real Madrid for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014. With big boots to fill, Casemiro has done a fine job and his importance has only increased since his arrival.

In every passing season, the CDM’s minutes and games played has increased as well. This season, he is having his best ever scoring run with seven goals, a nice gold star for a man whose job is to ward off his opponent’s attack.

At Real Madrid, Casemiro has become a huge part of Zidane’s starting XI and success as a whole. The Brazilian has featured in most of Real’s biggest clashes for a multitude of competitions. His most notable performances were last year’s Champions League Final, the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona and the round of 16 against PSG this year, just to name a few.
