Robert Lewandowski vs. Sergio Ramos

These two have known each other since the former’s Borussia Dortmund man’s days and there’s no love lost even today. Ramos was lucky to have escaped a suspension from the first-leg. But the reward is getting pitted against the might of the towering Pole.

In Champions League this season, Lewandowski has lacked the spark he normally imbues in his game. He has scored only five times so far and none in the last three matches. But he remains a big-game player nonetheless. And an enormous threat too.

Given Madrid’s defensive crisis throughout the season, Lewandowski might be licking his lips. Sergio Ramos must muster every ounce of his defending nous to negate his impact in the box.

The Spaniard looks to be back in his element after an erroneous first-half of the campaign. But he can’t rest on his laurels. There’s another big challenge looming, and Ramos has no room for error whatsoever.

There’s an intriguing battle in the air, as both are adept in the air and score several headed goals. However, Ramos statistically holds the edge – 67 percent success compared to his 49 percent.

This is one of the matchups to keep an eye on. It never fails to amuse us.
