It was even stevens at the Camp Nou, but Barcelona and Real Madrid played out a Clásico for the ages!

Boy oh boy, that was boisterous! FC Barcelona and Real Madrid produced a spectacle that aptly testifies it’s christening as ‘the classic’.

On a night where there was little apart from pride to play for, the teams traded blistering haymakers throughout the 90 minutes. Yet, there was no separating the sides at the end – Barcelona moved closer to their ‘invincible’ dream, while Real Madrid closed in on the second spot in the standings.

Having said that, we got to witness several events that are not typically seen in these Clásicos.

Here are five such peculiar things that happened.

Cristiano Ronaldo rippling the Camp Nou net

He lasted for only 45 minutes of the game, but that was enough for Cristiano Ronaldo to leave a mark. The Camp Nou crowd are now habituated watching the Portuguese international have an impact in almost every other visit here, and Sunday was no different.

Trailing 1-0 within the first 10 minutes, Ronaldo ensured the deficit was wiped out at the quickest when he equalized just four minutes after Luis Suarez broke the deadlock. Karim Benzema expertly placed the ball for him beyond Barca goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen, and Ronaldo scampered inside to nudge it over the line.

This was his 12th goal at the Camp Nou in 15 outings, and astonishingly, that’s one more than his great rival Messi, who too got on the scoresheet later on.

But Ronaldo just loves scoring at the Camp Nou, doesn’t he? He’s made it his stomping ground of sorts. Really, how many times have we seen him irk Barcelona in their own backyard now?
