Real Madrid: Possible formation and lineup against Sevilla FC
Real Madrid has a mid-week match against Sevilla FC on Wednesday. After an electrifying El Clásico, the team will be looking to claim second place in La Liga. Here is a lineup preview and two possible formations Zidane could use in the match.
The 4-2-3-1
Using a 4-2-3-1 could be a very viable option for the match against Sevilla. The game will feature very few starters to give them rest from Sunday’s match as well as prepare for the UCL final. The rotation of the squad presents the option for the youngsters to help close off the 2017/2018 campaign.
With this formation, we’re probably going to see a rare change in net. The second pick Kiko Casilla will step up for Navas and protect the goal. In front of him, we’ll see the experienced defenders of Sergio Ramos and Nacho to present leadership in the squad. At the fullback positions, we’ll see the return of Hakimi and Theo to the starting lineup.
Ahead the four defenders are the two perfect midfield talents to display, Mateo Kovacic and Casemiro. The two players have great defending ability the back and finding players in space.
In front of Kovacic and Casemiro will be Vazquez, Isco, and Asensio. Having Isco in that attacking midfield will add creativity and flair to the attack. Asensio and Vazquez will have the chance to let loose on the wings and support the defenders in transition. These players are going to be crucial to the success in this match.
The focal point of the attack will most likely be Borja Mayoral. According to Who Scored!, the young forward has eight goals in all competitions this season. That’s a very impressive record that he’ll hope to continue against Sevilla.
The 4-3-3
There is a possibility of the resurgence of a 4-3-3 against Sevilla. This formation would work well with the players available for the team right now. It gives the option for a less clustered midfield and more support for the attack. With the 4-3-3, we’ll see the same players in the starting lineup but a different view on their positioning.
The keeper will remain the same with Casilla in net. Then followed by the same defenders of Ramos, Nacho, Hakimi, and Theo.

Transitioning to midfield, things begin to change position wise. We’ll see a midfield trio of Isco, Casemiro, and Kovacic. The midfield will be less defensive than the 4-2-3-1 by removing the defensive midfielders in front of the back line and making Casemiro the sole protector.
The front line will change from a lone Mayoral to support from Asensio and Vazquez on the flanks. There’s no doubt that numerous changes will be created with that front three. The 4-3-3 will be very interesting for Zidane giving him possible ideas for the last few games of the season.
