2. Money

Neymar’s transfer fee from Barcelona to PSG was more than double the previous world record. By activating his release clause PSG shelled out a whopping $263 million. While there is no confirmed release clause on Neymar’s new contract what is know is that the price definitely has gone up.

If Madrid were to chase the winger for his signature not only would it have a big impact on the current squad, it could burden the club. Even though Real Madrid have unfathomable amounts of money to spend, putting a fair chunk of it into one player will leave them with little for others.

Just like how it can be argued that having great players instead of one superstar is more sustainable, spending money on a couple players rather than one seems logical. It’s almost like investing in stocks. If you have $100 dollars to invest you’re better off buying 10 stable stocks at $10 rather than 5 unpredictable stocks at $20.

In addition to not putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak there are other places and players, Madrid should put their money than in one man.
