Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has reached a remarkable milestone in his career with the club. Here’s a quick look at his time and success with Real.

Real Madrid’s Carlos Henrique Casemiro, better known simply as Casemiro, has written his name in the club’s history books. The Brazilian made his 150th club appearance this past weekend as a starter against Villarreal. Incredibly, the Brazilian has reached this milestone in just his fourth season with first-team.

Casemiro made the move to Real Madrid back in 2013 from São Paulo. In his first season with the squad, he was a part of La Decima, Madrid’s tenth Champions League title. The following summer, he would be loaned out to Portuguese club, FC Porto, before returning a year later.

Casemiro has played in six different competition since his time at Real Madrid, picking up the trophy at least once in each competition. In his 150 games with the club, he has won 111, earning him a 74 percent victory rate. In his time at Madrid, he’s also put home 14 goals, some of them absolute screamers.

Games by Competition:

  • La Liga – 91
  • Champions League – 37
  • Copa del Rey – 14
  • Club World Cup – 4
  • Spanish Super Cup – 2
  • UEFA Super Cup – 2
"“It’s a significant landmark for me. Every time I take to the pitch for this team it’s a dream come true for me and I hope to be able to make many more appearances in this shirt.” -Casemiro on reaching 150 games with Real Madrid"

The Brazilian was not as much a part of Rafa Benitez’s plan, who was the manager at the time. Once Benitez was sacked in January 2016, Casimiro became a key force for Real Madrid. Under Zidane, he has become pivotal to the club’s success both domestically and abroad. This season is also his highest goal scoring season with seven to his name.

Title Success:

  • Champions League – 3
  • Club World Cup – 2
  • UEFA Super Cup – 2
  • La Liga  – 1
  • Copa del Rey – 1
  • Spanish Super Cup – 1

After the match against Villarreal, Casemiro spoke about the Final against Liverpool making mention of Zinedine Zidane’s selection headache. Despite being so humble in his approach, it is nearly a guarantee that Casemiro will start in Kiev. Though he is not a flamboyant player on the pitch, the Brazilian gets the job done.

Usually sitting behind Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, Casmeiro acts as the first line of defense, ahead of the back four. In the event the opponent breaks on a counter, Casemiro is able to stunt any threat before reaching the defensive third of Real.

The stats back up the theoretical approach of Casemiro’s game. Per Whoscored, Casemiro has averaged 3.8 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1.6 clearances over the course of his career in Spain.

He has also had 3threeassists and completes 89 percent of his passes. From a benchwarmer to a key member of the starting XI, Casemiro is proof that hard work is key. At 26 years of age, Casemiro will surely be around for several more years.

The Brazilain anchor will be key to Real Madrid’s success come this weekend in Kiev. Helping slow down the front three of Liverpool will be his biggest task yet in the white kit of Real Madrid.
