After months and months of speculation arguing who would acquire the signature of 17-year-old forward Rodrygo, Real Madrid has agreed to terms with the incredibly promising player. Beating out FC Barcelona, Rodrygo is the third young Brazilian talent Los Blancos have signed in the last year.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no need to put this article under the transfer rumor section because it is a confirmed move. Both Santos FC and Real Madrid have both confirmed through their official social media accounts that the left winger will join the Spanish giants next summer after a selling price of €54 million was agreed upon.
The move comes as a huge boost to Real as they have been showing interest in one of the best young players Brazil has to offer for several months now. Whatsmore, they were able to beat out rivals FC Barcelona to acquire him.
Here is the official statement from Real Madrid:
"“Real Madrid CF and Santos Futebol Clube have agreed that player Rodrygo Goes can play at Real Madrid when he reaches his majority. Although the player would be able to join our club in January 2019, the agreement establishes that his incorporation will take place in July of that same year.”"
The news comes just days after rumors began to swirl that Vinicius Junior is set to make the switch to Madrid this summer after enjoying incredible success over the last year with Flamengo.
Rodrygo and Vinicius have been close coming up through the Brazilian youth ranks and the other young Brazilian who signed for Los Blancos might have tipped the move a day early in his comments to Marca.
The signing of Rodrygo has many Madridistas very excited as the kid has impressed early in the season with Santos, scoring five goals in 10 starts in league play. To go along with the five goals, the forward has provided two assists and has quickly asserted himself as a regular in the starting lineup.
His ability to move on and off the ball is jaw-dropping with his pace and skill looking so natural. He glides around the field much like Cristiano Ronaldo. Rodrygo Goes has been compared several times to Neymar with his abilities and his rise through the Santos youth ranks, and for good reason based off of highlights.
Madrid fans will have the opportunity to watch this kid play with the Brazilian youth team and Santos for another season before he steps into the Real Madrid Castilla team in July of 2019.

President Florentino Perez has made it a clear priority to sign young players and build through ‘La Fabrica’. I am a huge fan of this player from what I’ve seen and this is yet another great decision from the Real Madrid board to pay a hefty amount now before the price tag goes up even further.
