France

France is considered one of the heavy hitters this World Cup and had some decent success. Les Bleus topped their group winning two games and drawing win. They finished off with 7 points, scoring three goals and conceding just once.

The low scoring efforts though have been of concern for France given the wealth of talent they possess in attacking talent. Their final game of the group stage was against Denmark where they field a vast array of attacking talent. Failure to score at least one goal is not a good sign.

Raphael Varane

Varane has been having solid performances for his national team. His form and poise on the ball have transcended from club to country. Raphael’s leadership was noticed by his manager and was made Capitan of the team in their last game of the group stage.

The center back has clearly learned a lot from his time at Real Madrid and his partnership with Sergio Ramos has been nothing short of beneficial. Varane and his country will head into the Round of 16 where they will face Argentina.
