Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui hints at more changes coming to the squad
By Ben Sundock
Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui hinted at improving the already talented squad he has taken charge of during this summer. In an interview with the club website, the Spanish boss had some interesting comments about what to expect from the team this season.
A new manager means new ideas and changes. That is exactly what the former Spanish national team boss has hinted at recently. Following the team’s second training session of the summer, Lopetegui said the following.
"“To focus on my job as head coach, I’ve got a really strong squad, regardless of what happens and there will be some tweaks and situations that will be resolved in the coming weeks. We’ll have an extremely strong squad that’ll be capable of facing up to all of the challenges that lie ahead with real confidence.”"
This is one of those comments that will have Madridistas speculating wildly as to what this means in the near future. Does this mean more players will leave? Does it mean that the club will sign Thibaut Courtois or Eden Hazard this window?
You be the judge. While we guess and gossip about all we want, there is no way to know what will happen until it finally does. I didn’t believe the Cristiano Ronaldo leaving rumors at all for all those weeks they were everywhere.
I waited for the two clubs to confirm the move before really mourning the departure of a true hero.
While this was one of the biggest takeaways from Lopetegui’s interview, he had some other very interesting comments about what he expects from his players and himself this coming season.

"“I’m joining the best and most demanding club in the world. I’m certain that I’ll be able to meet those demands and we’ve got to start working towards our first chance to win some silverware, which will come on Aug. 15 in the UEFA Super Cup against Atletico.”"
He isn’t kidding when he says that Real Madrid is the most demanding club in the world. It is probably the reason Zinedine Zidane stepped down after becoming just the second coach in European Championship history to win the title three years in a row.
Fans expect not one, two, or even three trophies a year. They expect to win every competition they participate in and anything less than winning is considered a failure.
The good thing about Julen taking over is that he has seen first hand how intense the fans are and how demanding the club board is. Lopetegui was a part of Los Blancos youth academy and was a backup for the first team for several years.

To say that Julen has a lot of pressure on him taking over for Zizou is an incredible understatement. How do you follow up one of the most successful managers the club has ever seen?
A lot of people around Chelsea and the Belgian National Team are starting to hint that Hazard is ready to leave London for Madrid, but of course, this is all rumor and hearsay.
