Real Madrid fans will be disappointed to hear that top transfer target Neymar Jr. will not be returning to Spain ahead of this season. The Brazilian winger confirmed in an interview that he has no desire to leave his current employer, Paris Saint-Germain after just one year there.

"“Yes, I will stay in Paris. I have a contract with PSG. The speculation? The majority of it is invented by the press.”"

This is what the most expensive transfer in world football history told Fox Sports at a charity event just a couple days ago. The statement effectively closed the book on the three-time Champions League winners from even making a bid for the wickedly talented winger.

Expected by many to be the replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after his departure for Italy last week, the former FC Barcelona and Santos player will honor the five-year deal he signed with the French giants nearly a year ago.

“I have a contract and people know the objective, the reason why I went to PSG. I want to win with this club and I hope this season will be wonderful,” he went on to say. Although Real Madrid was forced to issue a statement about a month ago publically denying that they were trying to sign Neymar, this is indeed a blow to their rumored big summer transfer window.

The club’s top two targets, both of whom are with PSG – Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, have denied that they will be leaving the defending Ligue 1 champs.

Los Blancos’ third target, Eden Hazard, is reportedly close to making his move to the Spanish capital, but Chelsea wants a record fee for the Belgian international. While I think Hazard would be a great fit in Madrid, the news of Neymar Jr. staying put is a bit annoying.

I didn’t expect him to leave Paris after just one season, but I thought Ronaldo’s departure could’ve changed his opinion.

I am rather certain that one day in the near future, Neymar will be the next Brazilian superstar to put on the Real Madrid kit. But, we as fans will have to wait at least another year and probably a couple more years before we finally see the move.

Could Neymar retire a Real player? Let’s see what happens.
