Pushed for an Exit

During the World Cup, midfielder, Mateo Kovacic spoke publically about his time at Real Madrid. He expressed on a few occasions that he felt that he deserved more minutes, and to his merit he did. Surely, it would have been nice to the see the Croatian dancing through the pitch like a salsa dancer. But as is the case at Real Madrid, this is a club where great players keep other great players on the bench.

The fact of the matter is that he wanted out and was pushing for it heavily. Players only make rash comments like Kovacic’s for two reasons.  First is that they are seeking a raise in their wages and the second being that they would like to leave the club.

Keeping Mateo Kovacic around while he’s unhappy would not be a great thing to do. It goes without saying but this could end up quite toxic. Within the locker room and team brotherhood, Kovacic’s attitude could cause some friction. Other players who also don’t get the minutes they hope for could follow suit. Causing an uprising in the middle of the season could create a meltdown.
