Likely Return

While the details of his contract are unknown media reports suggest that Kovacic will be back. His contract with Chelsea is for one season only and runs until the end of June 2019. Kovacic pushed his way out Real Madrid for playing time not because he didn’t like the values or environment of the club. That might sound like the same thing but it’s quite the contrary.

Without a doubt, Mateo Kovacic enjoyed his time with Real Madrid. Three years with the club and an arrya of trophies won. If he is guaranteed minutes with Real Madrid and is welcomed back he would most likely stay. Real Madrid is the dream club of many players and for Kovacic to follow the footsteps of Modric would mean a lot.

The one year loan will be great for the player in many ways. Being able to develop his game in a different league will make him more versatile and expose him to different aspects of the game that he may not have got in Italy or Spain. Working with Chelsea, a club that is currently trying to find themselves will give Mateo the chance to show his worth in more than just one way.
