Real Madrid moved to the top of the table for the first time in over 12 months after swatting Girona aside by 4-1 at the Montilivi Sunday, and the Twitterati was once again abuzz.
Real Madrid made it two in two in La Liga’s new season after a 4-1 win over Girona as Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, and a brace from Karim Benzema, got the job done in a tantalizing affair.
It was not all rosy in the garden for the visitors though as the Blanquivermell laid bare some glaring defensive deficiencies, especially in the first half, and were only undone by their frustrating lack of cutting edge.
Against a more formidable side with a more formidable group of players, this could have been a genuinely diabolical experience for the Whites despite a much-improved show after the break.
New manager Julen Lopetegui can catch a breather for now, but has plenty of holes to plug before he guides this side to a La Liga trophy.
Here’s all the action that unfolded on Twitter:

Much better second half. Benzema & Bale will be promising this season. Isco needs a couple of slaps. Keylor is here to fight. Dani is back. Ramos is a boss. We move on.
Bale has been in a fine form since the start of the preseason, and unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of puffery being sprinkled on the Welsh wizard at the moment.
Gareth Bale has scored or assisted in each of his last seven games for Real Madrid.

Our Captain Fantastic Sergio Ramos was on the scoresheet too, delicately chipping the ball into the net in what was an exquisite panenka. So there was no way he’d be away from the limelight…

Real Madrid Front Three 🔥🔥🔥
And finally here’s to our (unfairly-but-) oft-criticized striker:
📅 Karim Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009.

🔥 Nine years later, he's still scoring goals for them. Underappreciated. pic.twitter.com/jVxqVrueDj
