2 – Fluidity through the ranks

Staying with the idea of distance, keeping him in the Capital allows for easy movement between the first team and Castilla. Since the beginning of the La Liga campaign, we’ve seen Vinicius join the first team during the week for training sessions but play with the Castilla on matchdays.

Having him in Madrid and within the Real Madrid eco-system means that he can play a match with the senior side if Julen Lopotegui sees fit. Given that Real Madrid has failed to secure the La Liga in the last 10 years putting out a strong starting XI will be of utmost importance. That being said him playing won’t happen unless Julen is 100% certain of his teams standing, at least in La Liga.

When it comes to the Copa Del Rey the chances of him getting time is much higher. The opening rounds often see Real playing against teams who are in the second or third division of football. This gives Julen an opportunity to rest first team players and give Jr. some minutes.
