Head to Head
Real Madrid hasn’t had many opportunities to play against Roma as they play in different leagues. This year though Madrid faced off against the Italian side with both teams taking part in the International Champions Cup. Madrid won that match 2-1, but it was a friendly, therefore not a clear indication of the team’s talent.
Competitively these two teams have gone head to head for a total of 10 times. Eight of the ten matches took place during preliminary rounds and the Round of 16, with an even split. The other two games took place in the Group Stage during the 2004/05 season. Over the course of the 10 matches Real have won six times, losing on three occasions and drawing once. Los Blancos has also outscored their opposition 19 to 9.
Julen Lopetegui and his men will look to extend those records further in their favour. Real will host Roma on Wednesday, September 19, and then travel to Italy for the second match on November 27.
