Midfield

Luka Modric – 8.5

After a few games of looking fatigued from his long summer due to his participation in the World Cup, Modric looked full of energy. The Croatian had another dominant performance in the midfield. He ran through the pitch as he pleased providing plenty of opportunity to the forwards. Modric’s ball was a thing of beauty, weighted and calculated to absolute perfection, adding another assist to his name.

Casemiro – 8

Having not played against Bilbao, Julen Lopetegui learned his lesson and started the defensive midfielder against Roma. His efforts made the match easier for Ramos and Varane but his contribution went beyond just his defensive work. Casemiro passed with 93.2% pass accuracy and went 6 for 6 on long balls.

Toni Kroos – 8

The metronome kept picking apart Roma as the clock kept ticking. Working within different confines of the pitch he did a great job in controlling the tempo and play of Real. Toni delivered perfectly on long balls going 12 for 12 along with a 4 out of 7 in crossing. With four shots it was quite surprising he wasn’t able to put one into the back of the net, but all in due time.
