Real Madrid splashed the cash on the Welshman 5 years ago and time has flown by, he’s now played for the Whites 200 times. Here’s a quick look at his time with Madrid.
Gareth Bale has done some truly remarkable things at his time at Real Madrid. On Tuesday against Viktoria Plzen, he’s added to that in making 200 appearances for Real Madrid. In that same match Bale’s assist lead to Marcelo’s goal.
Bale’s purchase back in 2013 was the world record fee for its time. The former Spurs man came in with a lot of promise and he wasted no time to make an impact at his new home.
Over 200 appearances Bale has claimed victory 135 times. He’s also scored 92 goals over the past few seasons, some of which are very memorable, to say the least. Last years Champions League Final is surely one amongst many to remember.
Bale’s 200 appearances have been spread across six competitions:
- LaLiga – 134
- Champions League – 47
- Copa del Rey – 9
- Club World Cup – 4
- Spanish Super Cup – 3
- UEFA Super Cup – 3
After 5 full seasons and 200 matches, Bale has added plenty of metal to the trophy cabinet and one could argue he’s a huge reason for two Champions League titles. Gareth has picked up 13 trophies in his time with Los Blancos, that’s about one for every 15 games he’s played. Of those 15 games, 4 are Champions League titles, astonishing to say the least.
Bale made 48 appearances in the 2014-2015 season which was the most for him in a single season at Real Madrid. This year he has been played 11 matches and scored four goals. He started off hot but has cool down in unison with Real’s dip in form.
Gareth will be looking to be in the limelight again during this weekend’s El Clasico. This will be the first Clasico of the season, a fixture Bale has been the highlight in before.
