Second Half

Karim continued to keep his foot on the gas coming very close to a second with some neat footwork as well as hitting the crossbar. With his dancing shoes on he turned defenders inside out firing a shot on net which was saved by the goalie but deflected in by Celta player Gustavo Cabral.

Five minutes later Celta would close the gap scoring a goal in the 61-minute. A wonderful tight angle shot off the volley by Hugo Mallo beat keeper Thibaut Courtois to make the game 2-1. The Belgian came up big to ensure his team stayed ahead keeping out some fierce shots from Celta.

It wasn’t until the 83-minute that Madrid was able to take a bit of a breather as Sergio Ramos’ trickery beat the keeper from the penalty spot. Alvaro Odriozola was taken down in the box as he darted towards goal, warranting the spot kick.

With three minutes to go in regulation, Gustavo Cabral was sent off after a possible ankle breaking tackle on Javi Sanchez. His carelessness warranted a second yellow card from the referee and a sending off.

Dani Ceballos who had a wonderful game after coming in for Casemiro in the first half unleashed a canon in stoppage time. Clearly making use of the extra space on the pitch he has shown his superb finishing abilities yet again. His goal put Madrid up 4-1 and ensured the three points were taken home.

Celta scored a late consilation goal in the 93-minute after a shot from distance took a harsh deflection from Ceballos.
