The international break could not come at a better time for Real Madrid

Until late next week, the majority of Real Madrid players and coaches will be taking a break from the grueling fall schedule for the international break. For manager Santiago Solari and the litany of injured players for Los Blancos, this is some much-needed time off.

12 Real Madrid players have been called up to serve on their respective national teams for the November international break which is the last of the 2018 calendar year.

Before competing in four different competitions before the Christmas break, this time off from club duty could not come at a better time for a team that has been stricken with injuries at seemingly every position.

The 12 players called up over the break are: Sergio Ramos, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Isco, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale, Raphaël Varane, Valverde, Marcelo, Vinicius Jr., Thibaut Courtois, and Luka Modric.

The good news for the newly appointed permanent manager is that this break will allow several players who have been rehabbing to ease back into training with no pressure of a match affecting them.

Mariano Diaz is one key player back training in the capital after missing the past couple of weeks with a back injury. Raphael Varane and Marcelo were both called up to national team duty after missing the past couple weeks with injury problems as well.

Varane should be able to face Eibar upon his return to Real Madrid in a little over a week as he has looked back to 100 percent in training with the French team as shown through his Twitter page.

Marcelo is getting close to making a return to the lineup as well as he was training with the club before the match at Celta Vigo and has been in training with Brazil yesterday and today. His health is crucial to Madrid’s success right now as the back line has plagued by injuries.

The break offered goalkeeper Keylor Navas the chance to get a small procedure done on his knee.

Just a couple days ago, the Costa Rican international underwent a stem cell treatment on his knee in order to prevent any injuries from occurring and to make sure the joints around the area are clean.

This is not a procedure that will hold Navas out of action, as he should be back in training well before the match on the 24th against Eibar.

The international break will give Solari some time to work closely with the players who did not get called up to their national teams and it will give players like Casemiro and Dani Carvajal more time to rehab and hopefully be fit enough to return soon.

If Real Madrid can navigate these murky injury waters and make it through this tough stretch still within striking distance of the top of the league, fans should be very, very happy.
