Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has spoken out on why Isco hasn’t played much in recent weeks. The answer may surprise given the magicians performances with the team.

Dani Ceballos has been coming into his own with Real Madrid since the arrival of Santiago Solari. During his last few games, he has excelled, earning himself a starting role under the new manager. But, there are other players who aren’t doing so well, such as Isco, who hasn’t featured much since his injury.

Isco has featured in 12 matches so far this season scoring two goals as well as providing two assists. He has played a total of 698-minutes which amounts to less than 10 full matches. In addition, he has taken part in 12 out of a possible 12 matches.

From the 18 matches, Real Madrid has played this season he has missed four due to injury. In late September he was diagnosed with acute appendicitis restricting him to bed rest. Missing four weeks of football creates a different problem itself. In that time managers find a better combination that does include in the injured player, regulating them to the bench.

In an interview with Mega Chiringuito, Ceballos said that “He had a major injury and it’s not easy to come back in” when speaking about his fellow teammate. Dani is definitely right in saying that, Isco has been having a rough go as he was kept on the bench in Real’s last match before the international break.

The former Malaga man will be looking to give Solari a headache when it comes to choice. There’s no question that Isco is important to the team, but his lack of consistency at times hasn’t been the biggest help.

Real Madrid will be back in action against Eibar on November 24. Los Blancos still have seven games remaining in the calendar year, plenty of opportunities for Isco to get back into the rotation. With rumors picking up that James Rodriguez may make a return, it’s crucial that he steps up his game.
