Should Solari bench Luka Modric?

This has been probably one of, if not the hottest debate during the season. It is clear that Luka Modric is not quite at the races, despite having the highest pass completion percentage against Roma at 92 percent, he was not quite the marvel we know him to be.

Making poor decisions in the final third throughout the game – many have continued to question, should he be dropped for a much-needed rest? I say absolutely.

He, of course, has stated he hadn’t had a pre-season before returning to Madrid which is a factor for his struggles. Considering the promise of the likes of Ceballos and Valverde, it makes complete sense to allow for Modric to reserve some energy. Hell, why not even try Isco out? What’s the deal there?

As for Marcos Llorente, that performance Tuesday was simply fantastic! He emerged from the forgotten pile and showed some of the great potential we knew he had. It makes complete sense to keep giving him the role in the absence of Casemiro.
