Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid shortly after winning his third consecutive Champions League title as the manager. The reason for his sudden departure, he said, was the constant stress of the job. He could be back roaming sidelines in the very near future.

Enzo Zidane, Zizou’s oldest son, gave some insight as to what the future holds for his father. Enzo, who was a Real Madrid youth academy player and is now with Rayo Majadahonda, told reporters that his dad is interested in returning to the sideline very soon.

"“We all know that my father loves football and loves to coach,” he said. “It’s most likely that he will return to coaching soon.”"

Zidane left Madrid at the beginning of the summer after completing one of the best managerial careers in club history. Citing the stress and pressure provided by the media, fans, and board, the once great player turned coach decided it was time for him to take a break.

This break has only lasted some six months and the Frenchman is already interested in looking for another job? I find this a bit suspicious. However, as I said when he announced his departure, it made sense for him to step down.

He had a coaching run unlike anyone has seen in nearly half a century. He set so many records and won so many titles, it was nearly impossible for him to outdo what he had accomplished. Why not go out on top of the game?

But, with these rumors, I question everything I said. If it is true that Zizou is eyeing the position at Manchester United should Jose Mourinho leave for some reason, that is a bit sketchy.

Although Real Madrid and Man U have little chance of ever facing off, the Champions League is the competition that Zidane was best at coaching in. I have no doubt the two clubs would meet in the knockout round if this were the case.

Zidane is a very talented coach and any team would be lucky to have him in charge. We as Madridistas certainly do miss him and all of that success now.
