UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid has just one match in the Champions League this month which will be played against CSKA Moscow. It will be the sixth and final group stage fixture which will be played on Wednesday, December 12.

In its last outing which was against Roma, a 2-0 win secured the top spot of Group G. As a result, Madrid can sit back and give more rest to key players of the starting XI. This will allow for Solari to field more of Madrid’s youth products and give them a chance to gel.

CSKA currently sits at the bottom of the group alongside Viktoria Plzen with a win and a draw along with three losses. The match shouldn’t pose much of a challenge for Madrid as it should carry more weight in terms of pride than function.

Los Blancos will find out its opponents for the Round of 16 five days after their final group stage match. Finishing in first place is usually a great thing as those who do face an opponent who finished second in their respective group, but, the UCL has been unpredictable this season.

Big clubs like Paris Saint-Germain have the potential of hosting the Whites at the Parc des Princes once again.
