Real Madrid needs to dig deep during a hectic December

Copa del Rey

Being a top club in the premier division of football in Spain, Real Madrid was catapulted into the fourth round of the Copa del Rey. Its opponent was UD Melilla who play their league football in the Segunda B Division.

After pummeling them 6-1 on Thursday and 10-1 on aggregate, Real Madrid has earned its ticket to the Round of 16 where the competition gets a whole lot stiffer.

Real Madrid will find out who its opponents will be in the next round on December 13. Leg one and two will be played on January 9th and 16th respectively.

So far, Eibar is the only La Liga side to be knocked out of the competition leaving plenty of other teams in the top flight to be drawn. While Madrid boasts 19 Copa titles, they have won the competition just twice since the 1992-1993 season. Solari and the men in white will be looking to earn some more hardware in the Copa.
