FIFA Club World Cup
Many people are at a crossroads when it comes to the Club World Cup. Some see it as a great way to unite club football while others see it as a money grab. Irrespective of the optics, it is a competition that Real Madrid is a part of, and as always losing is not an option.
For the third year in a row, Real Madrid is partaking in the global, club football tournament. Every year, Madrid has been given a quick pass to the semifinal as per the structure of the competition. Just like last year, the matches will take played in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Real’s opponent is still not yet known as continental cups around the world must still be played for this to be determined. This trip could result in either one or two matches, and the past has shown us that Madrid doesn’t have that hard of a time capturing the top spot.
The first match will be played on December 19 and in the event that they win, Madrid would play the final on December 22.
The issue with this match is that it adds plenty of travel to the schedule which could cause the players some fatigue. Real Madrid’s next match after spending some time in Abu Dhabi would be a league match against Villareal, three days into the new year.
On the other hand, this delays a league match later into the season and leaves Real Madrid with a game in hand.
