This topic has been so hotly debated it is untrue! We’ve had two pieces on this – both of which were great reads (You can see them here and here). So, what did I think of Ronaldo’s comments? I can’t say I was surprised, if anything, I’m surprised it took him 5 months. I expected it as soon as he was unveiled in Italy. However, it is important to remember the context and the story. Many feel he targeted his comments at the players and the fans, I do not agree. I feel his comments were mainly aimed at the higher-ups and in particular, Florentino Perez.

Ronaldo and Perez did not share a ‘relationship’ but more a business understanding. Perez saw a prized asset in Ronaldo, however, we must remember that he was not a Perez signing. Perez famously tried pulling the plug on the deal, with that failing, he saw Ronaldo as that inherited step-child. Perhaps that is what he was eluding to? Only Ronaldo knows what he meant. Ronaldo is a legend and will always be fondly remembered. That is all I look at.
