Forwards

Mariano Diaz – D
Came back to the club during the summer and many people expected to see more of the forward but he didn’t really convince Lopetegui and he’s been injured for pretty much all of Solari’s time at the club so far. Made the most of his first game of the season but not much else.

Karim Benzema – B
A difficult one to grade. When Karim Benzema’s at his best, there is no stopping him but his inconsistency has always been a problem and that hasn’t changed this season. Thankfully, he has had more good games but really needs to work on coming out with the same consistency weekly.

Gareth Bale – D+
Personally, my favorite player in the squad. Having said that, it’s hard to really defend many of his performances. The Welshman was supposed to be the one who took the pressure on his shoulders this year and that has not been the case. Disappears a lot in matches, his finishing has been way below average and is simply not doing what he can to help the team. If it wasn’t for his performances in the Club World Cup, he would have probably gotten a slightly lower grade.

Lucas Vazquez – B+
Put aside for a second whether his performances were good or not, this is a man who gives his absolute all every single time he takes the pitch. His stamina is incredible and I don’t think he ever stops running. As for his performances, there is a reason why Solari trusts him. He has had a pretty good campaign so far.

Vinicius Junior – B-
Another difficult one to grade due to lack of performances but Vinicius has shown that he’s an EXTREMELY exciting prospect and I can’t wait until he gets used to being at this club and showing what he’s truly capable of!
