Real Madrid has had quite the turbulent season so far, prolonged poor form, questions over the current sides capability and the changes of coach – the club is in a nightmarish merry-go-round. One of the biggest issues at the moment, however is the Solari vs. Isco situation.

The Spaniard has seen his minutes severely diminished under the former Castilla manager. Both manager and player had a reported falling out following the player questioning the methods of the coach. The player has barely seen himself starting for the team under Solari and is being left out of games on a regular basis with the Copa Del Rey game against Leganes being the most recent incident.

The continued rift between the two is catching headlines and is seeing plenty of people discuss the matter. Club captain, Sergio Ramos has now weighed in on the issue. The World Cup winner said: “It’s complicated, at Real Madrid, everyone wants to play and that makes the coach’s job even more difficult. But this is Madrid and the issue is always who gets to play and who doesn’t, if we need to sign a striker, who should be in goal … the newspapers always need something to write about and we’re doing our best to help them, so that you don’t get bored.”

Isco saw himself at odds under both Ancelotti and Zidane during their respective tenures, however, he soon won both of them over. He won Zidane over in particular, becoming integral in the 2016/17 double winning season.

However, the issue this time seems very different. The player has refuted that he is happy but one would imagine that he would not be happy if this situation continues throughout the season. Clearly a player of world-class ability, he will naturally want to be a part of the teams successes, especially given the struggles throughout the squad as of late.

The player is certainly not short of options should he choose to move on from the club – a number of suitors have lined up for him including Manchester City and Juventus. Although, both his colleagues and fans alike are hoping for a solution to be found. As was evident with Sergio Ramos’ celebration with the player during the Club World Cup which clearly showed this issue is far from simple.
