Real Madrid won in a hard-fought game against Real Betis in last night’s round of La Liga action. A late Dani Ceballosfree-kick saved the game at the death, however, the team saw yet another injury added to a continually growing list.

Karim Benzema broke his finger late in the first half which saw him substituted off. His injury is the latest in a long growing list that includes Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Marcos Llorente and Thibaut Courtois. With a struggling attack already a prominent problem and now a lack of healthy players to choose from, Madrid are now reportedly looking to bring in a fresh attacking option to cover up the current injury crisis.

According to Spanish outlet, AS, the club have drawn up a list of potential targets who could help the team in their current injury crisis and also bolster the attack for the remainder of the season. The players considered on the list range from both permanent and loan transfer options.

The crowd favourite option is Inter Milan marksman, Mauro Icardi. The Argentine is currently in the midst of a dispute in regards to a contract renewal and is apparently considering his options and he would be open to a move to Real Madrid. A former Barcelona academy graduate, Icardi is a serial scorer and has been consistent for a number of seasons now in front of goal. Should the club decide to chase his signature, he could be available for 110 million Euros.

The second option that the club has considered is to bring the arrival of Brazilian wonder-kid, Rodrygo forward. The rising star who turned 18 recently was acquired by Real Madrid recently and was meant to remain at current club Santos until next year, however, the injury crisis could see him arrive on Spanish shores sooner than expected.

The final option the club are considering is a loan move for Genoa forward, Krysztof Piatek. The Polish striker is currently enjoying some red-hot form with 19 goals in 21 outings for his club this season.

Madrid is reportedly eager to bring him in on loan until the end of the season with numerous reports suggesting they are keen on the player. Genoa are reportedly bracing for an offer from Los Blancos any day now.

With options being considered, it’ll be interesting to see what Madrid does in the winter window. Usually, they do not operate in it unless their hand is forced – the last time this happened, Madrid signed Abebayor to cover for the injured Gonzalo Higuain a few years ago.
