Memphis Depay – Lyon:

Memphis Depay has quietly turned himself around from young star held back by poor attitude to a man who is now the most important man on his team. Depay always had potential, it was clear during his Eredivise days at PSV. Whilst his time at Manchester United did not live up to the hype, at Lyon he has shown what he can do and he’s done it consistently.
Depay is a player I thought would be perfect for Madrid right now and I’ve long advocated his move, why? Because he can do it all up front. Since moving to Lyon, he has scored 29 goals and played on 28 assists in 71 league outings. That registers as a goal involvement every 89 minutes, better than that of Lyon’s heralded Nabil Fekir.
In the UEFA Champions League this season, he has contributed 5 goals or assists in 5 games, in Ligue 1 he has 12 goal contributions in 17 appearances – he is consistently providing the goods for Lyon. Alongside his goal contributions, in Ligue 1 he is taking 2.7 shots per 90, more than Benzema, laying on 3.4 key passes per 90, more than anyone in Madrid and he is completing 1.4 dribbles per 90, more than any of Real Madrid’s current attackers.
With 11 goals and 11 assists in all competitions so far this season, Depay is a talent worthy of considering for Los Blancos. He is capable of linking up the play, scoring and creating. He is also competent with dead ball scenarios too with strong ability when it comes to free kicks and penalties.
