Real Madrid rose to the occasion against Alaves on Matchday 22 as they close the gap on Atletico Madrid. Here’s a look at the player ratings.

Santiago Solari has guided Real Madrid to a fifth straight victory in all competition as Karim Benzema, Vincius Jr, and Mariano Diaz put in a goal. There we plenty of strong performances from several players as the youth has come up big once again.

Thibaut Courtois – 7

This was no means a tough match for Thibaut Courtois who had to deal with just one of Alaves eight shots as his team did a great job to make sure he had little to take care of. Courtois seems to be tipped to start Wednesday’s game against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey.

Alvaro Odriozola – 8

Coming in for Dani Carvajal, Odriozola had a great game, that it was hard to miss Carvajal in this match. The right-back went three out of six on crosses with one of them resulting in Mariano Diaz’s bullet header to earn himself an assist. Alvaro also finished the match with five tackles, only Casemiro did better, with six.

Sergio Ramos – 7.5

The Capitan was one of three players running the risk of missing Wednesday’s game has he been shown a yellow card. Thankfully the more composed version of Ramos was present but his personality was still felt on the pitch. Showing off how talented he is, the centre-back went nine for fifteen on long balls and two clearances.

Nacho – 7.5

Filling in for Raphael Varane, Nacho got the call-up and as always did what needed to be done. Nacho sat deep and made sure Courtois was rarely tested. The centre-back had two tackles, three interceptions and two blocked shots over 90 minutes.

Sergio Reguilon – 8

Like Odriozola, Reguilon had a big game and got the start ahead of Marcelo. His confidence as a defender and to move up the wing to help with the attack his incredible. The 22-year-old’s driven ball across the face of goal to Benzema opened up the scoring as well as adding an assist to his name.  Reguilon misplaced just one long ball finishing the game with 94% pass accuracy.
