Substitutes

Lucas Vazquez (60′) – 7

The man who should have started on the right wing showed exactly why as he came on in the 60-minute. His burst of energy helped slow down Ajax and keep them at bay. A reckless tackle had him see a yellow card but his support to Carvajal was required. It’s hard to see how the Spaniard does not start the return leg.

Marco Asensio – 8

Asensio hasn’t had an easy go this season as he battled with injuries. Coming on as a substitute in the previous two matches as well you could see the passion burning in his eyes as he helped out on both ends of the pitch. The grit and hard work paid off after scoring a late goal to give Madrid the 2-1 lead and a huge advantage

Mariano Diaz – 6
