The changes needed at Real Madrid

Managerial Change
This comes without any doubt after Tuesday’s humiliating loss in the UCL. Overall, this is the same squad that won the Champions League three times on the bounce but needed a tactically adept and an experienced manager in a transition year like this. Perez made a big mistake by giving Solari the keys and expecting him to repeat Zidane’s success. Here are the major candidates for the job:
1. Mauricio Pochettino
The Argentine has been linked with Madrid for the past year and he has never denied his affection for the Spanish club either. He was quoted saying “if Madrid’s job arrive you have to take it” and numerous times he has admitted his interest in managing the Madrid club.
If that was not enough, he won more fans over by saying he will never manage Barcelona and he doesn’t like that club. Pochettino is the perfect choice and his work with Tottenham has been commendable. He is good with youth, puts out tactically sound lineups, and is up to date with modern football.
He wants his guys to plays attacking football as compared to other other managers that are available, making him the perfect choice for Real Madrid. The main problem, as we have seen before, will be dealing with Spurs Chairman Levy.
He’s a tough cookie to crack and we all know how he churned every penny out of Perez’ pocket to acquire Gareth Bale.

2. Antonio Conte
Antonio Conte was tipped to be the manager when Julen Lopetegui was sacked but due to his legal troubles going on with Chelsea and Solari winning all three of his matches convincingly led Perez to drop the idea.
Conte is seen by the media as a strict manager and the one who can disrupt dressing rooms. The only fight he had was with Diego Costa when he was at Chelsea. Otherwise, he has a great record.
Despite getting sacked unjustly by Chelsea, he won the league and a FA cup in his two seasons in charge which is a good enough for the high standards of the London-based club. Conte has a defensive playing style but that’s exactly what Madrid needs given they have lost Cristiano and his 50 goals with him without any replacement.
The defense looks horrible without Sergio Ramos and Conte can help to fix this issue. The counter attacking style would suit Madrid and a three man defense will get the best out of Vallejo who had a great time playing in a back three in Germany.
Conte is a really passionate manager and is always animated on the touchline. It’s a joy to watch such managers who wear their heart on their sleeve.
3. Jose Mourinho
As soon as the Ajax game was over, there were wild chants of “Bring back Jose Mourinho” as reported by Marca. Former president Ramon Calderon also said in an interview that Madrid will appoint Mourinho for sure in the summer.
Mourinho himself talks highly of the club and said he would love to go back there. Mou, despite all he achieved in the past, always had the problem of disrupting the dressing room and picking fights with players, the most recent example being Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
He also has a really defensive playing style and he has not changed things tactically enough to compete at an elite level. His tenure at United was probably his worst at any club. Though Mourinho will still be a big big upgrade over Santi Solari the players may not prefer this move. If Mourinho can again make Real Madrid play that fast paced counter attacking football I’m all up for it.
