3. Midfielders

This is going to be a tough summer for the midfielders as a lot of uncertainty surrounds them. Isco has been having countless problems with the management and the board and it’s worth noting that there was a point in time where the midfielder was not on great terms with Zidane.

They have since resolved any problems but Isco is proving to be a player that cannot be counted on off the pitch regardless of how good he is when playing. Having said that, the Isco situation is really vague with the only clear matter being that his problem isn’t necessarily with the manager (in this case, Solari) but possibly more with the club itself.

Even though Zidane was responsible for bringing in Marcos Llorente, he hasn’t played him during his time at the club but would have surely seen what the Spanish defensive midfielder is capable of when he played this season. He knows that Llorente is a massive asset to the team and we’re stronger with him.

As for Carlos Casemiro, I don’t see him going anywhere in the summer either. Luka Modric isn’t getting any younger but he still has something to offer for the team while Toni Kroos hasn’t really been having a very good season and may face problems if things do not improve for him. Similarly to the Llorente problem, Dani Ceballos was yet another player Zidane brought in who didn’t feature much under the Frenchman and admitted that he was going to leave the club if Zidane stayed last summer.

I don’t see how that would change now unless Ceballos is able to convince Zidane that he can be helpful at this club rather than leaving.

The final player that I see staying is Marco Asensio even though he has been going through his worst period at the club. Zinedine Zidane already knows how to get the best out of him and will surely want to do that once again. As for Federico Valverde and Brahim Diaz, I don’t see them staying at the club next season and will probably be leaving on loan.

There has been talk about Zinedine Zidane wanting N’Golo Kante from Chelsea but I simply don’t see how that would happen, especially if we end up getting Eden Hazard. If Kante arrives, then we’ll probably see the departure of Casemiro as well.

James Rodriguez will have to decide on his future this summer as well but I personally can’t see him returning to Real Madrid as Bayern Munich will probably activate the purchase clause to finally make the Colombian one of their players.
