Real Madrid hosted Eibar for Match Day 32 of the La Liga campaign, here’s a look at the key moments of the match.

Karim Benzema lead Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory against Eibar on Saturday afternoon in La Liga play. The Frenchman scored both the tying and winning goals of the match.

Eibar opened up the books five minutes before the half-time whistle to earn themselves the early 1-0 lead. Eibar’s Marc Cardona received a beautiful cross pass in the box to then beat Keylor Navas with a wonderful chipped shot as the Costa Rican came to sprawling.

For most of the first-half Madrid controlled possession and passes but nothing fruitful. The home side struggled to play out from their own half as Eibar’s press caused them trouble time after time.

Los Blancos turned things around at the start of the second half against the visiting side. Stringing up passes through the midfield and positive movement of the ball Real Madrid finally scored.

Striker Karim Benzema netted his first goal of the match 15-minutes into the second stanza from a wonderful header. Benzema headed the cross which came in from a corner kick, down and into the back of the net past Marko Dmitrović.

With Madrid finally, on level pegging, they were back to save themselves from the embarrassment which could have been. Had Eibar won it would have been the first time since their promotion in 2014 that they would have beat Real Madrid.

In the 81-minute Benzema would head home his second goal of the night. The brace came from open play after substitute Toni Kroos whipped in a sweet ball. Both goals seemed to replicate themselves as the number nine has been in fine form as of late.

Karim Benzema has scored five goals in his last five matches as he continues to be the teams biggest threat in front of goal this season.

Real Madrid pushed on in the last 15-minutes of the match (including stoppage time) to help get Benzema his hattrick. Despite some great chances to do so, it just didn’t happen.

The Merengues will take on Leganes in La Liga on April 15, a little over a week from today. Surely this will be another contest of Madrid ensuring a Champions League spot and auditions for Zinedine Zidane’s squad of next season.
