Midfielders

Casemiro (27)

Zidane managed to bring the best out of the CDM during his three-year tenure at Real Madrid. I don’t see him leaving anytime soon.

Verdict: Keep

Marcos Llorente (24)

Marcos has been the biggest surprise this season. He did not feature much under Zidane, but definitely proved himself this year not only defensively, but also with his technical ability on the ball.

He definitely took advantage of Casemiro’s injury and grew into the position.

Verdict: Keep

Toni Kroos (29)

Earning a staggering £200,000 a week – only behind Gareth Bale – it would make a lot of sense to see Kroos depart the club this summer.

The combination of his shocking form and Real Madrid’s interest in several midfielders could mean that the German will have to make way for a Galactico signing.

Verdict: Sell (Estimated worth: £70 Million)

Luka Modric (33)

Having been heavily linked with Inter Milan, Luka seemed like he wanted out of the club and that desire was reflected on his performances in the first half of the season. Zidane’s presence could change things, but it is clear that Real Madrid are already preparing to inject a fresh new midfield after Luka and Kroos. Unless he accepts a less vital role, he could end up leaving in the summer.

Verdict: Up to the player (Estimated worth: £30 million considering his age)

Dani Ceballos (22)

He certainly has not helped himself after his comments regarding Zidane. But assuming he has started a ‘clean slate’ with the manager, it would be a massive shame seeing him leave the club. A very exciting raw talent who will certainly burst into superstardom regardless of where he ends up.

Verdict: Keep

Frederico Valverde (20)

Fede is a raw talent and is not prepared to feature constantly with Real Madrid yet. It will be interesting to see him at a club like Sevilla, where he would have more minutes and freedom to express himself.

Verdict: Loan

Isco (26)

It’s now or never for the Spanish magician. The Bernabéu seems to have blind love for him and I can definitely understand why. The next nine games could prove pivotal for the creative midfielder and may even provide more clarity on how Zidane decides to utilize him.

Verdict: Keep

Brahim Diaz (19)

After finally earning a long-awaited start against Huesca, Brahim was not afraid to take on a defender or two. He was a joy to watch, but will have to wait his turn, perhaps on loan.

Verdict: Loan

Related Story. Zinedine Zidane should be careful in the summer window. light

Mateo Kovacic (24)

Once tipped as Modric’s proceeder at the club, it seems like the gifted midfielder has totally lost interest in returning to the club, especially with Zidane in charge. As much as it is a shame to see him go, you cannot force a player to play against his will.

Verdict: Sell (Estimated worth £30-£40 million)

James Rodriguez (27)

The Columbian’s future is really up in the air as it seems unlikely that Bayern will keep him. Zidane could assess his situation during the preseason, but my gut feeling says his fate has already been decided.

Verdict: Sell (Estimated worth £50-£70 million)

Martin Odegaard (20)

Another raw talent. He has definitely matured and benefited from his experience at Vitesse. Pre-season awaits.

Verdict: Depends on pre-season but most likely loaned out again.
