Real Madrid expects to have Karim Benzema back in the lineup this weekend as they face Real Sociedad in La Liga play. Captain Sergio Ramos is nearing a return, but won’t be available until the last match of the league season against Real Betis.

After speculation that his season was over due to a serious muscle injury in his leg, striker Karim Benzema is back in full training and will more than likely make the starting XI for the second to last match of the season.

Benz is closing in on one of his best season’s of his career and is just two goals shy of tying his 2011/2012 mark of 32 goals. The number nine has been one of the very few bright spots in this team throughout the season and has proven that he can carry the load with Cristiano Ronaldo now at Juventus.

Center back Sergio Ramos, on the other hand, is not quite 100 percent and will make his much awaited return on matchday 38 as Real Madrid hosts Real Betis in a meaningless final match.

Ramos has been hindered by a hamstring problem for several weeks now and has not featured in the lineup since early April.

The good news for Sergio is that he should be fit enough to play for Spain during their Euro qualifying matches during June.

Muscle problems in the legs of footballers is tricky business. It is incredibly difficult to judge when the muscle has fully healed and more often than not, another injury can occur if the player pushes himself in a match or on the training ground.

For the most part, the Real Madrid Sanitas doctors have done a wonderful job caring for the team, however, players like Mariano Diaz and Jesús Vallejo have really struggled to get through these kinds of problems.

Having Karim is a huge boost for Zinedine Zidane and the Real Madrid attack as they struggled without him in these last couple matches. Although Mariano put on a show and scored two the past weekend, having the French number nine back healthy is a massive boost.

Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez, and Raphael Varane have done alright plugging the hole Ramos left, but there is no other player in the world who has the passion, skill, and fire that Sergio has.

Regardless of the results of these last two matches, it will be nice to see both of these leaders at the club back on the pitch helping Zidane reach the finish line in this incredibly bleak campaign.
