After signing from Manchester City in January, many Real Madrid fans were curious to see if young Brahim Diaz would be able to contribute right away. After scoring his first goal for Los Blancos over the weekend, it’s clear what the club saw in the Spanish international.

In just 334 minutes of play and a tough transition from one manager to another, forward Brahim Diaz has shown why president Florentino Perez splashed the cash to sign him from Manchester City in the winter.

After working his way through the City youth ranks between 2013 and 2018, Brahim was put on the fast track to the senior squad by former Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola who also saw the same thing as Los Blancos.

After making just three appearances for the Premier League winners in the Carabao Cup in the fall, Real Madrid had seen enough and made the deal happen.

After getting a few appearances as a substitute under Santiago Solari, Zinedine Zidane has shown his faith in the 19-year-old forward in these last couple months of the campaign with Vinícius Júnior out injured.

Brahim has made four starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga and registered his first goal in the shocking loss to Real Sociedad over the weekend.

Diaz’s goal on Sunday was a long time coming. It certainly was a first goal to remember as the small, yet strong player wiggled his way into the box with the ball tethered to his feet and slotted home a world-class goal.

Against Getafe and Villarreal, the youngster looked like a 10 year veteran flying down the wing, dribbling through and past defenders, and setting up teammates. He likely should’ve scored in one of those matches, however, he showed great determination to keep trying and he was rewarded with one of the goals of the season.

Brahim Diaz has done everything in his power to show that he is worthy of a first team spot, but, with the arrival of Rodrygo Goes, the return of Vinícius, and the potential signing of Eden Hazard, the club has voiced their desire to send him out on loan.

Brahim strongly disagrees, according to Marca. He wants to stay in Madrid and work closely with his teammates and coaches instead of spending a year away from his parent club.

I may sound like a broken record here when I say this: I think a loan move is the best option for both parties right now. The best way to develop skill is by playing regularly in a top league anywhere in Europe.

Like we have seen with Marcos Llorente and Sergio Reguilon, both players have the skill to be starters, yet with the talent already at Real Madrid, they have been hurting for minutes. I think we can all agree that Vinícius is an outlier and Brahim will not get the minutes the Brazilian has gotten.

The club clearly made the right decision in signing this player, he just needs a little bit more experience and playing time before he becomes a staple of the starting lineup.
