It is official! Real Madrid has officially extended Toni Kroos’ contract until 2023 following the conclusion of the season, which simply shows that the club are ready to get down to business.

This announcement comes as a slight surprise as the German was linked to many other clubs (particularly Paris Saint-Germain) in recent weeks/months but it looks like Real Madrid know the gem they have and will not be willing to let him go. This could be the reason behind them announcing his extension so soon as well since clubs may have enquired about his availability and now the club have made a massive statement.

"“I have never had doubts over my future.”"

Toni Kroos comes out of a bad season for himself and the team in general as they will all be using that as motivation moving forward to ensuring they come out with a much better season after the ending of the summer.

“If I had doubts about my future, I wouldn’t be here today. This year no player has reached their full potential, it’s normal after the past few years. What isn’t normal is the three Champions Leagues we won in a row. To be that seemed impossible.

I have never had doubts over my future. A month ago, AS said that I wanted to leave but I know what I want and I want to be here. I do not know who is coming or leaving but all I can say is that I am going to be important here. I cannot say anything more. If I play at my level, I have nothing to worry about.”

Toni Kroos also addressed the rumors regarding Kylian Mbappe and Paul Pogba saying that he has no say in the transfers and that is something for the club to work on.

Kroos has spent five seasons in Real Madrid so far after signing from Bayern Munich and during that time, the German midfielder has been able to win 12 trophies. He has played 152 La Liga matches, 56 UEFA Champions League games, and a total of 25 matches in the Copa del Rey, European Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup. He has also been able to provide 46 assists during his time at the club. He is the second highest German appearance holder at the club with Uli Stielike being the only one above him with 308 games. It looks like Toni Kroos will be overtaking that as well before departing the club.

This is the first of many announcements expected from our club this summer as Los Merengues will want to move quickly and finalize all their deals before the preseason begins.
