If it wasn’t for the valiant leadership of center back Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid likely would not have won four Champions League titles in five seasons. Now, after spending nearly 15 years with the club, El Capitan is considering leaving the club that has brought him exorbitant amounts of fame and fortune. Why is this and will it happen?

Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen! This summer is truly going to be one of the most wild we have ever seen. With the never-ending reports of players set to head to the Spanish capital and a litany of players set to exit, we as fans and followers of the club have absolutely no idea what is going to transpire.

It would be fantastic if Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe, or Luka Jovic ended up signing a long-term deal to play for Los Blancos, but it would be a true nightmare if the captain of this team – Sergio Ramos – decided to move on after what was a very difficult campaign all around.

According to reports from Marca and El Chiringuito, Ramos is currently weighing his options and will meet with manager Zinedine Zidane and long-time friend and president of the club, Florentino Perez, in the coming days.

Ramos really struggled following Real Madrid’s crushing loss to Ajax in the Champions League back in February and eventually missed the last seven La Liga matches due to an injury suffered in training.

After spending several weeks rehabbing in Madrid, Sergio has left the country for a short vacation before he must return for national team duty in early June.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have voiced their interest in Sergio Ramos several times in the last couple of years, but there has never been a doubt about the defender’s desire to remain with The Whites.

That has all changed now with the club’s recent struggles and Sergio’s own injury problems. After countless titles and accolades with Real Madrid, a neutral fan might think it is time for the player to move on and do something new.

We Madridistas, of course, disagree. Sergio is that fiery player every manager wants to have in his lineup to create a spark when the going gets tough. Ever since Ramos took over for Iker Casillas as the captain, the club has thrived and won an absurd amount of titles in just five years.

Next. Real Madrid desperately require fear factor for revival. dark

A meeting took place at Ramos’ house some two weeks ago – according to the rumors – between Ramos, his brother, his agent Rene, and president Perez.

The defender voiced his desire to make a switch and made it clear that he wasn’t for sure leaving, however, he wanted to explore his options and discuss more with the head of the club in the coming days and weeks.

Keep those fingers crossed and hope Sergio Ramos decides against leaving Real Madrid this summer. We really, really, need him on the team.

Ramos is under contract with Real until the summer of 2021.
