Real Madrid announce the signing of striker Luka Jovic

Real Madrid has officially announced its third signing of the summer window with Serbian striker Luka Jovic set to join the club after a breakout season with Eintracht Frankfurt.
With Eder Militao and Rodrygo already confirmed, president Florentino Perez once again worked his magic and managed to sign another big start ahead of the coming season. After scoring 27 goals in all competitions, Los Blancos were willing to spend €60 million on the Serbian beast.
The deal will run six-years and help manager Zinedine Zidane with depth at the striker position, something that was noticeably lacking of all last season as Karim Benzema was forced to play nearly every match.
Real Madrid confirmed the signing on social media Tuesday afternoon as did Eintracht Frankfurt.
The only details provided by the 13-time Champions League winners is that the 21-year-old will undergo a medical test at the Valdebebas facilities in the coming days. Once he clears the medical exam, it is expected he will be revealed at the Santiago Bernabéu within a week.
This signing was a long-time coming. The club was first tied to Jovic way back in January, and the deal was rumored to be done in mid-May, but due to some complications in dealing with both Frankfurt and Jovic’s former club Benfica, the deal took a bit longer than expected.
Of the €60 million Real Madrid is coughing up to bring him in, 30 percent of that will be given to Benfica as part of the agreement made between the Portuguese side and Frankfurt when Luka Jovic signed for them last summer.
Jovic spent two seasons on loan in Germany before the full transfer clause in the loan deal was triggered just two months ago. Frankfurt has to be happy with the deal having spent only €7 million to officially sign him.
This is a big day for Madridistas around the world as we will no longer have to question the depth behind The Big Benz and better yet, once Karim decides it’s time to move on, Jovic will be ready to take over.
This could, however, create some problems with the likes of Mariano Diaz, Borja Mayoral and Raul de Tomas with the latter two set to return after a year away on loan. Mariano struggled with injury all year and didn’t get the time he maybe deserved while Mayoral and de Tomas are looked at as expendable.
Keep your eyes on the transfer market rumors folks. Real Madrid and president Perez are far from done making moves with Eden Hazard and defender Ferland Mendy reportedly close to making a switch as well.
