Real Madrid: Twitter reacts to Zinedine Zidane’s comments on Gareth Bale
By Ben Sundock
Zinedine Zidane has sent fans into a tizzy after he stated that Real Madrid was looking to offload Gareth Bale in the next couple of days. Here is how fans are reacting and all the rumors as to where the Welsh forward could land.
Ahead of Real Madrid’s disappointing 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich on Saturday night, Gareth Bale was noticeably omitted not only from the starting XI, but the reserves on the bench as well.
Many wondered what the root cause of this was, and in his post-match press conference, the Madrid boss got straight to the point.
"“He wasn’t included in the squad because the club is working on his departure and that’s why he didn’t play. We’ll have to see what happens in the coming days. We’ll have to see if it goes through tomorrow, if it does then all the better. Let’s hope, for everyone’s sake, that it happens soon. The club is dealing with the club that he’ll move to.”"
After following the club closely and listening and reading Zidane’s remarks in press conferences for three years now, I can say without any doubt that this is not only the most straight forward he has ever been, but the most ruthless he has ever been.
Zizou is not one to try and upset his players or cause tension in the locker room. So, for him to say something like this after a preseason match is truly incredible. The rumors had been that Bale was refusing to leave Madrid and would be staying through this season.
Well, that looks to have all changed now.
There have been plenty of rumors floating around on social media in the last 12 hours that have Gareth Bale either going to China and making a lot of money or returning to Tottenham Hotspur.
Here is what the fans and media members are saying about the situation.
Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, was quick to give a response to Zidane’s comments last night, saying:
"“Zidane is a disgrace to speak like that about someone who has done so much for Real. If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing.”"
Bale could be on his way back to Europe in just a matter of days if a deal is indeed finalized, however, there are a bunch of rumors out there that you shouldn’t believe.
For example, the potential swap of Bale for Neymar Jr. Really? That’s not even close to reasonable! Paris Saint-Germain don’t want or need Bale on the team and would be stupid to agree to let Neymar go for the problem-causing Welsh international.
I think the most logical move for Gareth is going to China to make good money and be one of the best players in the league. Let him ride off into the sunset and forget the last year of turmoil in Spain.
