It began with a fax machine. Real Madrid was able to finally find a way to get their number one target at the time as David De Gea would be joining from Manchester United with Keylor Navas going the other way on Deadline Day. Things seemed finalized and sorted but a late problem with the fax machine ended all hopes.

With no time left to fix mistakes, Navas stayed at Real Madrid and became a legend at this club through his hard-work and dedication while giving the fans some absolutely incredible moments during his time here.

Of course, nothing lasts forever as we now find ourselves at another Deadline Day and saying goodbye to a goalkeeper who has made history at this club that we love so much.

Three UEFA Champions League titles will probably be the most memorable for everyone around the world but there have been many moments even outside the pitch where Navas has continuously shown his professionalism.

I personally want to take this time to thank Navas for the years that he has given the club. From day one, the Costa Rican has been dedicated to this club and the fans have grown to love him. He was the one who had to actually replace the legendary Iker Casillas and he did it brilliantly as he made the goalkeeping position his to keep and now he has set the new benchmark for his replacement: Thibaut Courtois.

For whatever reason, Keylor Navas has never really become acknowledged outside of Spain and that will always be a shock given how well he has performed over the years. Unfortunately, football is like that sometimes but he never complained and continued coming out with impeccable performances time and time again.

It was always going to be difficult to say our goodbyes to a player who has given us fans so much, but that time was bound to come sooner or later and with the Costa Rican not being a starter in the current Real Madrid squad, he has earned the right to search for that somewhere else.

He has found what he’s been looking for in Paris and I don’t think the fans there know just how good of a signing he is.

We will be seeing Navas once again at the Santiago Bernabéu this season but in a different jersey and he will be here to prove a point. He leaves with no bad blood between him and anyone in the squad but as a former Real Madrid player, he will definitely want to show his previous club exactly what they are missing.

Thank you for everything that you have given us, Keylor Navas. You will always be remembered as a legend of this club and an example to follow for anyone that joins after you. You now leave with your head held high and the respect and admiration of every single Madridista that has watched you play.

Gracias & Adios, Keylor. Pura Vida.
